New school, no big deal...

First Day of Pre-K
Georgia nailed it. This child is so nonchalant and stoic. She just goes with the flow.
Both Bill and I took her to school. We let her FaceTime with both sets of grandparents on the way there. She also brought a few of her Bearenstein Bears books to look at. Perhaps she expected more traffic?
It was a different experience for me as a public school educated girl. The environment was much more calm than I'm used to in a school setting.
We introduced Georgia to her teacher, Ms Gardner along with the two sides, Ms Kaitlin and Ms Messi. They all gave Georgia hugs and welcomed her with lots of love. Georgia felt right at home. We left her playing with the kitchen and not really caring if we were there or not.
I thought I would get a bit teary, but I held it together.
Today was only a half day. When we picked her up at noon she was happy to see us, but was still very nonchalant. Her teacher said she did great. It was a little chaotic at pick up so we didn't get to ask the teacher anything else.
Georgia told us and her grandparents (via FaceTime) that school was "good". Her new friends were "nice". Not too talkative, but did say that she liked it. Works for me!
We surprised her with lunch at the American Girl Cafe out in Tysons. We had her Bitty Baby doll, Milou, in the car when we picked her up. She enjoyed herself and liked the surprise. The funniest part of lunch was running into one of her classmates at the mall. How random!!
Reality started to hit her on the way home from lunch. She asked to spend the night at her Nana's, something she has done many times this summer. We told her that she couldn't because she has school tomorrow. She immediately decided she didn't like school and instead wanted to go swim in Nana's pool and see Nana's cat, Tabasco. Welcome to the real world kid, welcome to the real world....

Big School
The school supplies have been purchased. The new backpack, lunch bag and sneakers are ready to go. Her uniform is laid out for the morning. Summer. Is. Over.
Where did the time go? I set my goals high this summer. This was our last summer together as I will be looking for a job soon. I wanted to make it the best summer ever. No pressure, right?
I think I did good. We did a lot. We had a nice balance of doing fun stuff while doing nothing but reading on the porch.
Now it's over and I'm going to miss my sweet girl. I will miss walking her to her little co-op school in the morning. I will miss having lunch with her every day.
I'm so thankful I have had these years with her. I didn't plan on being a stay at home mom or a working mom. I had no plan. Lucky for both me and Georgia, it worked out perfectly.
Tomorrow will be hard. My baby isn't a baby anymore and this makes it official. Luckily I have a great summer and four and a half years home with her to remember and cherish.
Thank goodness Bill is taking tomorrow off! Can you tell I will need support?!

Halloween
What a month of fun activities for Miss Georgia!
Georgia participated in her first school field trip. The class went to Butler's Orchard to pick pumpkins and ride on the hayride. She loved it. The little stinker even ditched Mommy to ride on the bus with her friends. I drove behind the bus as we were going to my dad's afterwards and it was easier to have my car with me.
Then we all went to Leesburg Animal park for their Halloween activities. Unfortunately our trip coincided with the a ridiculous heat wave. It was 95 degrees! That was NOT fun.
We went to Boo at the Zoo for the first time. Mommy was not impressed. What the heck did we pay for? I don't think we will go again.
Halloween was FUN! Nana Matt took the day off and joined in the fun. Georgia dressed up at school with all of her classmates. They had a little parade in the park. Adorable! Mommy brought homemade cupcakes and cookies for the kids. That night, we went to Georgia's friend Brian's house for trick or treating. Those two really got into the Halloween spirit. The rain held off long enough for us to get about ten houses in. It was perfect.
Last but not least, Mommy went to Atlanta the weekend after Halloween to see Meredith, Mallory and Jack. Georgia had a big weekend with her Daddy. They had a pizza date night, went to the French Embassy for a Eurokids performance, and to see Goodnight Moon acted out at a local theater. I don't think she had a chance to miss mommy!

Saturday Morning
Most Saturday mornings are Daddy Georgia time. Daddy takes Georgia to Starbucks down in Georgetown. They like to get their treats and people watch together. Oh how Mommy would love to be a fly on the wall!

Dentist
A couple weeks ago Georgia went to the dentist for the first time. I was so nervous that she was going to freak out. Yet I only prepared her for the visit while we were walking to the appointment. Whoops.
As it turns out, she needed no preparation. She loved the dentist. I think she would have stayed there all afternoon. The hygienist said she was the best two year old ever. That's my girl!
